Building Blocks

And so it's time to block the show. A seemingly simple task that will and has caused tempers to fray and voices to screech.

Blocking a show is something that on paper should take about 10 minutes when the task is to be undertaken by a group of well educated grown up human beings. It involves figuring out where everyone will stand on stage, and how to get them on and off. Easy right?

The thing is that normally blocking a show is an exasperating process. Human beings by nature forget things, and if one person forgets that they are supposed to be standing two centimeters to the left of that person and 5 to the right of another then the whole thing falls apart.

DCMS managed to have no such problems on 'Blocking Saturday', thanks to the help of the one and only Anthony. A man of small stature he had us marching and snaking (we snake everywhere, it's the thing to do these days) in a matter of minutes. And even more shockingly, everyone was happy to do it.
'Boom!You love her!Very good.Next!'

Magic Anthony has also worked wonders with our soloists, making sure that on the night there will be a vast amount of stage presence and characters dazzling the Sugar Club.

He has turned a Dental Nurse into a convincing flamboyant lesbian, men into romantic, sweet heros and an AuPair into a Nubian citizen. The man works wonders.

So with much to look forward to, and dread for that matter, Opening Night looms closer than ever. Lets just hope that all our good work will pay off. I'm sure it will
